1LT Fox serving chow at the Dining Facility |
The Spartans are drawing down in Camp Cropper and are already packed up and ready to roll out to their new accommodations. A new mission and new objectives will bring some light at the end of the tunnel. 1stPlatoon has been conducting detainee operations for almost five months now and they are ready for whatever big Army has for them to accomplish. This has been a strenuous and daunting task for everyone involved, but especially for the Soldiers, who work day in and day out to close this chapter in history. I definitely have a newfound respect for the resolve and dedication that our young men and women in uniform display on a daily basis.
For news within the platoon, Spartan 6 (1LT Fox), is finishing out his time as a Platoon Leader with the standard 18 month rotation and is being replaced by 2LT Jacob Fellows. 1LT Fox will return to Fort Carson to be the Operations Officer of the Directorate of Emergency Services. They are currently wrapping up their on-the-job training and the “new guy” is moving in nicely as he learns his new responsibilities. He has yet to meet Spartan 7 because SFC Williams is on mid-tour leave right now. However, I am sure they will make a great team and accomplish a lot together.
I am the incoming 1stPlatoon Leader, 2LT Jacob Fellows, and I arrived at Camp Cropper mid-July as the TIF was being closed down and the detainees were being transferred. I am looking forward to our remission and working with/learning from all the Soldiers in 1stPlatoon.
